Slingshots

Slingshots plays a groovy collection of covers that span the likes of funk, soul, latin, blues and jazz. Listen closely, you might hear a popular song with a slightly different vibe or feel. We are inspired by excellent music from many different genres and like to bring as much of it to our performances as possible. We bring danceable, booty-shaking, good vibes and nostalgic sounds to our performances whether it is a restaurant, bar, live music venue, non-profit event, celebration or party. 

Hailing from Dobbs Ferry, NY and Hastings-on-Hudson, NY, Slingshots began as outdoor rehearsals during the pandemic in 2020. It was our way to spend time together doing the thing we loved and it stuck. Dave Bunting (guitar), Chris Sae-Hau (keys), Steve Kaell (bass), and Jeremy Portwood (drums) initially formed as an instrumental group. Along the way we added a saxophonist, Alex Kass. Our performances began with the River Arts Music Tour in Dobbs Ferry. Since then, we have been regular performers at River Arts’ annual Music Tour including performing on the bandshell at waterfront park as well as regular stints at Harper’s Restaurant and all kinds of private and non-profit performances.
